The coronavirus epidemic in Russia has not yet ended, said the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova, speaking at the annual All-Russian Congress on Infectious Diseases named after Academician Pokrovsky, TASS reports.

“I want to say that nothing is over yet. The situation cannot be considered localized and completed today,” she said.

According to Popova, in regions where the authorities have loosened anti-epidemic measures excessively, the spread of coronavirus is increasing.

The coronavirus spread rate is the ratio of the sum of the number of cases detected in the last four days to the sum of the number of cases in the previous four days. The indicator allows you to calculate how many people, on average, infect one carrier of the infection.

The incidence of coronavirus in Russia began to decline from mid-February. The maximum number of cases in the entire history of the pandemic (almost 204 thousand per day), according to the operational headquarters, was revealed on February 11. Later, according to the headquarters, the incidence began to fall. So, according to data from March 28, 21,101 people were infected over the past day. The last time such indicators were recorded in the summer of 2021.
