An increase in the incidence of CORONAVIRUS is expected in RUSSIA in the fall. This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) by the HEAD of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova.

She noted that coronavirus has become a seasonal disease. No particular risks for Russians have been identified yet, Popova added. The head of Rospotrebnadzor emphasized that during the holidays it is important not to harm your HEALTH and follow the rules of hygiene.

Earlier, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said on the sidelines of SPIEF that the total number of people infected with coronavirus in Russia exceeds 80 thousand people. According to him, more than 20 thousand of them are being treated in hospitals.

The minister stressed that the country is monitoring the situation with coronavirus, as well as the effectiveness of vaccines and treatment of the disease. He assured that if new challenges arise, the healthcare system will be ready to respond quickly.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic on March 11, 2020. It was canceled three years later, on May 5, 2023. WHO head Tedros Ghebreyesus stressed that the decision does not mean that the coronavirus has ceased to pose a threat.
