In this regard, the Ministers of the Interior of Germany and Poland, Nancy Feser and Mariusz Kaminsky, jointly appealed to the European Commission with a call to reconsider the distribution of refugees by country and provide additional financial assistance to Berlin and Warsaw. In a letter to European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas and European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson, the ministers called for "quick decisions" to resolve the situation. “Obviously, our resources and capacities will not be enough to cope with the growing influx of people,” the letter says, the text of which is at the disposal of the German news agency DPA. Feser and Kaminsky propose to the EC to introduce a one-time payment of €1,000 from EU funds for each person admitted to the country, and also require additional coordination in the distribution of refugees. Poland, according to the UNHCR, is the absolute record holder in terms of the number of accepted refugees from Ukraine. Germany is in fifth place among the EU countries in terms of the number of refugees accepted: according to the German Ministry of Internal Affairs, about 267 thousand forced migrants are registered on its territory.
