Vaccination plan, demand for rent and the "bad scenario" of the pandemic

RBC Petersburg with a selection of the most important news of the working week

St. Petersburg has fulfilled the plan of the Ministry of HEALTH of the Russian Federation for the vaccination of the population, said Dmitry Lisovets, chairman of the city health committee, during a speech to the deputies of the Legislative Assembly. According to him, almost 3.5 million Petersburgers (including children) have been vaccinated against covid-19 , which is 80% of the city's population. On the Smolny website "Petersburg against the coronavirus", meanwhile, only 2.9 million vaccinated citizens are reported. The Komzdrav explained the difference in figures by the fact that city statistics do not take into account certain categories of citizens - in particular, employees of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Federal Medical and Biological Agency and other departments.

The trend is changing on the St. Petersburg suburban housing market

Excessive demand for suburban real estate (for land plots and cottages) was observed for almost two years - it began in 2020 and continued throughout 2021. Some experts predict it in 2022, but in a less acute form and with a downward trend. However, the builders "on the ground" told the RBC Petersburg correspondent that a drop in demand had begun, which could also reverse the price trend. Now the opinions of market participants and experts about how prices for suburban real estate will change in the coming year, differ. Some point to high inflation and the continuing rise in prices for building materials, which will also increase the cost of construction, while others predict a slight decrease in prices due to reduced demand and strong competition for orders.

Last year, the situation was fundamentally different: prices for almost all building materials were growing steadily, one could only doubt the rate of further growth. Demand for construction work also grew steadily, at least in the first half of the year - until prices reached critical levels in terms of purchasing power.

Optimism dried up in a month: Omicron hit shopping malls

Traffic in shopping centers (TC) in St. Petersburg after the introduction of a ban on visits by children and adolescents fell by 15-18%. Children's goods stores and public catering suffered the most from the decline in attendance. Smolny has already announced that children's "antique" restrictions will be lifted from February 14, but market participants are pessimistic and do not count on a quick recovery in traffic.

“How to be treated and what to do?”: The Health Committee responded to the complaints of St. Petersburg residents

In St. Petersburg , more than 290,000 citizens suffering from acute respiratory viral infections, influenza and CORONAVIRUS are currently listed under "outpatient supervision". According to the Social Insurance Fund, only from January 24 to February 10, more than 460,000 sick leave certificates were issued in the city. “We are at the peak,” said Larisa Solovyova, HEAD of the department for organizing outpatient care for the adult population of the city health committee, at a press conference on February 10. The main burden of the new wave of coronavirus, according to her, fell on the outpatient link and the 122 service.
