Pfizer and AstraZeneca show efficacy against Indian strain

The American vaccine Pfizer / BioNTech and the British ASTRAZENECA are quite effective against the Indian strain of covid-19 (B.1.617.2). This is evidenced by the results of a study by Public HEALTH England (PHE).

Pfizer was 88% effective against the Indian strain, AstraZeneca was 60% effective two weeks after the second dose. Three weeks later, both vaccines were 50% effective.

“I am increasingly convinced that we are on track to implement the roadmap because these data show that the vaccine works effectively after two doses (versus the Indian version),” UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock said.
