In relations between countries, which of the states is stronger is playing an increasingly important role, said Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, TASS reports.
“There is a clear trend towards an increase in the power factor in international relations. Simply put, the medieval principle is returning - whoever is stronger is right, ”said Patrushev. In general, according to him, the situation in international politics is now dynamic and largely unpredictable.
He also noted that the covid-19 pandemic gave impetus to various global processes, including in the field of security. “We have witnessed how, in a matter of months, states closed their borders, turned away from each other, introduced protective trade and sanitary barriers,” the Security Council Secretary noted. The pandemic also contributed to an increase in the number of manifestations of nationalism, chauvinism, various forms of secular and religious extremism, and an increase in military-political tensions between countries.
Patrushev warned about the threat of terrorist attacks by saboteurs from Ukraine Politics
At the end of May, Patrushev said that RUSSIA had the right to respond by force and economic methods to the hostile actions of other countries. These opportunities are provided for by the new edition of the National Security Strategy.
The document spells out Russia's right to act by "symmetrical and asymmetric measures" to prevent other states from somehow threatening the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
