Novosibirsk began to be vaccinated with the CoviVac vaccine: what is its difference

The press service of the government of the Novosibirsk Region reported that on May 31, vaccination against CORONAVIRUS with the KoviVac preparation began in the region. The first batch of the vaccine was delivered to the Novosibirsk region at the beginning of last week. The drug was distributed to all medical institutions in the region where there are vaccination points.

The CoviVac vaccine was developed by specialists from the Federal Scientific Center for Research and Development of Immunobiological Preparations named after A.I. M.P. Chumakov. The drug received registration on February 20 this year. Thus, KoviVak became the third registered Russian vaccine.

KoviVac is a classic, whole-virion, inactivated vaccine that contains cells from the whole, killed COVID-19 coronavirus. Inactivated cells cannot harm the human body. After vaccination, a person develops immunity, as after an illness.

KoviVac can be used to vaccinate people from 18 to 60 years of age. The drug should be stored at a temperature of 2 to 8 degrees Celsius. Vaccinations should be given two weeks apart.
