New Year's prize: the deadline for achieving herd immunity in the Republic of Tatarstan

has been announced

Provided that the current pace of COVID-vaccination is maintained, collective immunity in Tatarstan can be achieved by the New Year, Lyubov Avdonina, deputy HEAD of Rospotrebnadzor for the Republic of Tatarstan, said at a press conference in the Tatar-Inform news agency.

According to her, Tatarstan needs to reach the level of herd immunity of 80%. Today it is estimated at 72%. About 300,000 more people need to be vaccinated.

“Additional vaccination” is necessary for people over 60 years old, as well as employees of micro-businesses and enterprises with a small number of employees. Six months after vaccination or an illness, immunity decreases, so it is necessary to re-vaccinate. We will continue to calculate collective immunity with repeated vaccination, ”she said.

The day before, Marina Patyashina, head of the department of Rospotrebnadzor of the Republic of Tatarstan, noted the low rate of vaccination among people over 60 years old. According to her, in this category of citizens, the vaccination rate is 60%, and the proportion of deaths is three times higher than among other categories.

Deputy Minister of HEALTH of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Zhavoronkov said that as of December 10, 2,189,735 people had been vaccinated in Tatarstan, of which 1,855,123 received the second component of the vaccine.
