New Year celebrations in Paris canceled due to coronavirus

New Year's Eve celebrations on the Champs Elysees in Paris have been cancelled. The corresponding message appeared on the city's Twitter account.

“Celebration events scheduled for the evening of December 31 on the Champs-Elysées have been canceled following the announcement of the government at the suggestion of the prefect of police and HEALTH authorities,” the message said.

Fireworks and a concert have been canceled, BFM Paris reported, citing the city hall. “We hope that 2022 will allow us to celebrate happy moments together, but for now we wish you to share with your loved ones a wonderful celebration of the end of the year,” the mayor’s office said in a statement.
