5:45 PM.  Several athletes and coaches living in the Olympic Village reported missing personal belongings to the police, according to Le Parisien.

There were five reports in total. Specifically, on July 28, a Japanese rugby player found jewelry missing from his apartment and €3,000 missing. The day before, the coach of the Australian national hockey team lost his bank card, with 1,500 Australian dollars debited from it.

The investigation is complicated by the lack of video surveillance in the athletes' living quarters and the reluctance of some residents to testify. In total, approximately 9,000 athletes and 5,000 coaches live in the Olympic Village.

5:35 PM. Britain's Nathan Hales won gold in trap shooting. He scored 48 points in the final, setting a new Olympic record.

Second place went to Chinese Qi Ying (44), and third to Guatemalan Jean-Pierre Broll (35).

This is Guatemala's second Olympic medal in history. The first was Eric Barrondo's silver in the 20km race walk at the 2012 Olympics.

5:25 PM.  French canoe sprint coach Guillaume Berge was arrested in the 11th arrondissement of Paris on the night of July 30.

Around 3:00 a.m., Berge decided to go to the restroom on a crowded street. When a patrol approached him, he unsuccessfully attempted to escape. Berge then assaulted several officers. He was only subdued with a Taser. The scene of the fight was captured on a body camera worn by one of the officers.

5:15 PM.  French singer Philippe Catherine, who performed the role of Dionysus at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, apologized to everyone who was shocked by his appearance.

"I was raised a Christian, and the best thing about Christianity is forgiveness. Therefore, I apologize if I offended anyone, and Christians around the world, I'm sure, will forgive me and understand that it was mostly a misunderstanding. Because when it comes down to it, this isn't about the Last Supper at all," Katerin said.

The singer said he rewatched his performance to understand why people were upset. "I saw something very colorful, conciliatory, and peaceful," he said, adding that he was surprised by the criticism.

5:05 PM. Australian swimmer Lani Pallister tested positive for CORONAVIRUS at the Olympics and withdrew from the 1500m freestyle. The 22-year-old athlete is currently self-isolating in the Olympic Village.

Pallister still hopes to compete in the 4x200m freestyle relay on August 1.

This is already the second case withcovid-19 has been detected in swimmers in the past 24 hours; previously, Briton Adam Peaty tested positive.

4:50 PM. Anastasia Kirpichnikova, representing France, thanked fans at the Paris Olympics for their support after her transfer from the Russian national team.

"My mother was afraid," Kirpichnikova said. "I say 'thank you' to the public who supports me, as if I were the most French of French women. I've never experienced anything like this."

16:35. China's Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha won gold medals in mixed table tennis at the Paris Olympics.

In the final, they beat representatives of the DPRK Lee Jong Sik and Kim Kum Yong with a score of 4:2 (11:6, 7:11, 11:8, 11:5, 7:11, 11:8).

Bronze went to athletes from SOUTH KOREA – Lim Jeong Hoon and Shin Yu Bin.

4:00 PM. Mirra Andreeva and Diana Schneider have advanced to the second round of the Olympic doubles tournament.

In the first match, the Russians beat Australians Olivia Gadecki and Ajla Tomljanovic with a score of 6:3, 2:6, 10:6.

In the second round, they will play Gabriela Dabrowski and Leylah Fernandez of CANADA, the fifth seeds.

15:25. US national team flag bearer Cori Gauff suffered a shocking loss in the third round of the Olympic tournament.

The world's second-ranked player lost to Croatian Donna Vekic with a score of 6:7 (7:9), 2:6.

Vekic's next opponent will be the winner of the pair Maria Sakkari (Greece) - Marta Kostyuk ( Ukraine ).

3:00 PM. Great Britain rugby star Amy Wilson-Hardy is suspected of racism after a screenshot from the WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta, a corporation recognized as extremist and banned in RUSSIA) leaked online.

It features a photograph of a 32-year-old rugby player wearing a dark makeup mask. In response to the photo, a second participant in the conversation, whose name has not been revealed, wrote, "A real chocolate face." Wilson-Hardy responded, "Thought I'd have a better chance with black ones."

2:38 PM. Former world number one Angelique Kerber continues her winning streak at the Olympics. In the third round, the 36-year-old German defeated Leylah Fernandez of Canada 6-4, 6-3.

Further down the bracket in the quarterfinals are Kerber, who will end her career after the Olympics, American Emma Navarro, or Chinese Zheng Qingwen.

Kerber is currently ranked 212th in the WTA rankings.

2:30 PM. The main photo of the Olympics seems to have already been taken.

14:05. Australian surfer Jack Robinson nearly drowned during the third round of the Olympic tournament taking place in French Polynesia.

"I was dragged along the bottom and couldn't surface," said the Australian, who also noted that the competition took place in strong winds.

Robinson said he was short of breath. "I couldn't breathe. We were running out of time. I thought of a lot of guys here who had so many bad starts," he said.

After the jet ski tow, Jack Robinson showed the best result and advanced to the next round.

1:45 PM. Two top Chinese swimmers, including one who made the Paris Olympic team, tested positive for a banned substance in 2022, but Chinese authorities secretly cleared them of doping charges, the New York Times reports.

After a lengthy investigation, Chinese authorities were unable to determine exactly how the anabolic steroid ended up in the athletes' samples, but concluded that they likely did so unintentionally while eating hamburgers at a restaurant in Beijing. In their explanation to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), CHINA emphasized that the banned substance was detected in minimal quantities, consistent with household contamination of a doping sample, not intentional doping.

One of the two Chinese swimmers was Tang Muhan, the Tokyo Olympic champion in the 4x200 freestyle relay, who is scheduled to compete in Paris. The name of the second swimmer has not been announced.

13:10. Egyptian sabre fencer Nada Hafez competed at the Paris Olympics while seven months pregnant.

"It looked like there were two competitors on the platform, but in reality there were three: me, my opponent, and my unborn child," Hafez said.

The Egyptian reached the 1/8 finals of the Olympic tournament.

12:20 PM. The world's leading athletes are competing at the Paris Games. RBC Sport has compiled a list of the stars who will participate in the 2024 Olympics .

12:10 PM. The Serbian team won its first medal, a gold one. Damir Mikec and Zorana Arunovic won the 10m air pistol mixed doubles competition. In the final, they defeated Jusuf Dikec and Sevval Ilayda Tarhan of Turkey with a score of 16:14. The bronze medals went to Sarabjot Singh and Manu Bhaker of India.

12:00 PM . Donald Trump called the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics a disgrace and vowed to prevent organizers from staging anything similar at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles if he wins the election. He made this statement in an interview with Fox News.

"I think the opening ceremony [of the Olympics] was a disgrace, really. The whole thing was a disgrace," Trump said, emphasizing that he was "broad-minded."

He also emphasized that Christians around the world are outraged by the parody of the Last Supper. Trump also ruled out repeating such a performance at the 2028 US Olympics if he becomes president.

The opening ceremony of the Games on July 26 drew criticism for including a scene parodying Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper," in which Jesus and his disciples were replaced by a bearded woman and men dressed as women .

The French episcopate expressed regret over scenes of "ridicule and mockery of Christians." The Russian Orthodox Church stated that the directors demonstrated contempt for European civilization and Christianity, while businessman Elon Musk called the opening ceremony "blatant disrespect for Christians."

11:30 AM . The Olympic triathlon tournament has been postponed due to pollution in the Seine. The men's competition was scheduled for July 30, the women's for July 31, and the mixed relay for August 5. The men's competition has been rescheduled for July 31.

11:00 AM. Daniil Medvedev will play 28-year-old Austrian Sebastian Ofner in the second round.

Medvedev, ranked fifth, is considered the clear favorite. Bookmakers offer odds of 1.1. A bet of 1,000 rubles would net him 100 rubles. A win for Ofner, on the other hand, would net him 6,000 rubles.

The Austrian is ranked 55th and has no ATP tournament titles. He has won 40 matches and lost 50 in his career. This year, he won 16 of 38 matches. Medvedev has faced Ofner once, defeating him in the 2018 Davis Cup.

However, Medvedev is playing poorly on the Parisian COURT.

He has only made it past the fourth round at Roland Garros once and has lost to clear underdogs on more than one occasion.

Russians Mirra Andreeva and Diana Schnyder will play the Austrian pair Olivia Gadecki and Ajla Tomljanovic in the second round. Both pairs are unseeded, and this is their first Olympic tournament.

The Russian pair is considered the clear favorite. Bookmakers offer odds of 1.6 for their victory, while their opponents are favored by 2.3.

Andreeva and Schnyder reached the quarterfinals in their other pairings at Roland Garros in 2024. Andreeva, playing with Vera Zvonareva, withdrew after reaching the semifinals in singles, while Schnyder and American Emma Navarro lost to the Italian pairing of Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini, who reached the final.
