The HEAD of the regional Ministry of HEALTH, David Melik-Guseinov, said that with the current level of the spread of the virus, it would be impossible to maintain two health services - for patients with covid-19and for other patients

Deputy Governor and Minister of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod Region David Melik-Guseinov spoke on his page on the social network about the need for another transformation of the healthcare system against the backdrop of the fifth wave of CORONAVIRUS.

"The main blow to medicine this time, covid will inflict on the primary link. The disease will proceed conditionally "softer", but on a larger scale. Omicron will "break through" the protection of high antibodies and there will also be many re-infections, "Melik-Guseinov explained his position.

Based on the experience of other countries, the head of the Nizhny Novgorod Ministry of Health said that with such a level of spread of the virus, it would be impossible to maintain two health services - for patients with COVID-19 and for other patients.

“The principles of sorting are gradually being erased. I understand that this sounds unusual for the time being, but in the usa and CANADA this transition has already been made. All hospitals have become a “red zone”. But the organization of “green zones” will require special responsibility for complex treatment. For example, we will have to build additional strong virus protection for surgical or oncological departments," Melik-Guseinov wrote on his page on the social network.

Over the past day, 1,258 new cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
