Influenza Research Institute completes preclinical studies of its COVID-19 vaccine

National Research Institute (NII) of Influenza named after A.A. Smorodintsev of the Ministry of Health of Russia completed preclinical studies of a vaccine against coronavirus of its own design. This was announced by the director of the institute Dmitry Lioznov, reports TASS.

“Now we have completed preclinical studies and are practically submitting documents for approval for a clinical trial of a vaccine <...> which, as we see it, should protect against coronavirus infection and influenza A,” he said. According to Lioznov, scientists can start clinical trials of the drug before the new year. He added that volunteers will take part in them.
