Vologda region extended high alert for COVID-19

While it will be valid until June 30 inclusive. Mass vaccination can significantly affect the stabilization of the epidemiological situation in the region.

The Vologda Oblast will spend the first summer month under the current restrictions, Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov said today at an expanded meeting of the regional operational headquarters. He explained the decisions taken and outlined the only right decision to normalize the epidemiological situation.

“In order to prevent the further spread of the pandemic and return to normal as soon as possible, it is necessary to develop herd immunity. Our goal is to have 60% of adults vaccinated by autumn, especially those over 60 who are at high risk. They need to be vaccinated in the first place to eliminate the risk of infection after the lifting of restrictive measures. Last week, Minister of HEALTH Mikhail Murashko said that in those regions of the country where vaccination coverage against CORONAVIRUS is higher, there is a steady trend towards normalization of the epidemiological situation. That is, there is a direct relationship: the more vaccinated in the region, the more stable the situation and the number of sick people is less,” the HEAD of the region said.

The governor said that on the initiative of the head of the Vologda Medical Association, Yuri Sapozhnikov, and for the convenience of Vologda residents, it was decided to change the location of part of the vaccination points from May 31. New vaccination points will open in Vologda in the Maxi hypermarket on Dalnaya Street and in the Severgazbank building on Blagoveshchenskaya Street, 3. A mobile point will continue to operate in the Marmelad shopping center. Due to the low load, the vaccination points located in the shopping centers "Apelsin", "RIO" and TSUM will stop accepting Vologda residents. In Cherepovets, all mobile points operate as before.

According to the press service of the governor, today the region has received about 130,000 doses of the vaccine, 114,000 Vologda residents have been vaccinated with the first component of the drug, and 85,000 with the second. The vaccination plan was completed by 21%.

The governor motivated the decision to extend the current restrictions by the instability of daily gains. This situation is also observed in RUSSIA as a whole. It has not yet been possible to achieve a steady decline in the incidence; every day, from 40 to 45 sick Vologda residents are detected. The spread rate of covid-19 is 1.05, which is higher than the national average. The head of the region recalled that in order to move to the removal of restrictions, the coefficient should drop to 0.5.
