First case of infection with omicron-strain of coronavirus detected in Ukraine

The Public HEALTH Center of Ukraine has confirmed the country's first infection with the omicron strain of CORONAVIRUS. This was announced on his FACEBOOK by the Minister of Health of the country Viktor Lyashko.

The strain was identified in a person who recently arrived in Ukraine from the UAE. “The patient continues to be treated. Also, an epidemiological investigation of this case and an additional examination of contact persons are being carried out,” the minister wrote.

A new strain of coronavirus omicron was first identified in southern Africa (South Africa, Lesotho and Botswana). Later it spread to a number of other countries of the world, including RUSSIA.

On December 14, the World Health Organization said that more deaths and hospitalizations are expected due to the new strain. The organization is concerned about the faster spread of the omicron strain.
