The heads of the ministries of health of the countries participating in the G20 consider the Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik V to be the best among other drugs for infection, said Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko at the IV Forum of Social Innovations of the Regions, TASS reports.
“Now speaking at the G20, the ministers of health said: Sputnik is the best drug for prevention,” Murashko said.
The Minister also called the vaccine a "first breakthrough" in the field of medical science, which is known throughout the world. According to him, in a short period of time, doctors have collected a “colossal” amount of data that speaks about the effectiveness and safety of Sputnik V. “It costs a lot, and [our] country was the first in the world,” Murashko summed up.

The meeting of G20 health ministers was held in Rome in early September. Murashko during his speech called for the start of a process of mutual recognition of coronavirus vaccines in order to allow the resumption of cross-border movement of people. This also requires a common approach to drug regulation and research coordination, he said. “The regulatory assessment of vaccines should be based on scientific data and not be politically tinged,” Murashko emphasized.
