The new strain of coronavirus omicron is spreading faster than other mutations. This, according to RIA Novosti, was announced by the head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko.

“Specialists assessed the features of the clinical course of the disease. It has been established that the strain is spreading much faster than the previous ones,” Murashko said.

The high infectivity of the omicron strain was previously confirmed by the World Health Organization (WHO). “Currently, there is strong evidence that omicron is spreading much faster than the delta variant <...> and it is more likely that people who are vaccinated or have been ill can become infected again,” said WHO chief Tedros. Murashko spoke about the course of the disease with the omicron strain. According to him, when infected, a person has a tickle in the throat, muscles ache and a fever occurs. He noted that the number of cases of pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome with omicron does not exceed those with delta or influenza.
