Treatment protocols for infection with the omicron strain of coronavirus have changed, as there are drugs that are less effective for this option. The Minister of Health of Russia Mikhail Murashko spoke about this on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.

He said that the guidelines of the Ministry of Health on coronavirus have already been updated in accordance with the data received on the effective treatment of Omicron. According to Murashko, Omicron and Delta strains of COVID-19 are currently circulating in Russia , their ratio is approximately 1 to 2.

According to the Minister of Health, about 190,000 people have been hospitalized with coronavirus in Russia to date.

A new version of the guidelines on COVID-19 from the Ministry of Health appeared the day before, on February 22. In connection with the spread of the omicron strain of coronavirus in Russia, the ministry has identified priority categories of patients for outpatient treatment. These groups included patients with arterial hypertension, hyperlipidemia (elevated levels of lipids or lipoproteins in the blood), acute coronary syndrome and diabetes mellitus.
