The CORONAVIRUS continues to change, but the new strains are not aggressive, HEALTH Minister Mikhail Murashko said in an interview with Naila Asker-zade on the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
“Variability—it continues in the new coronavirus infection. But the new strains do not differ in aggressiveness, namely in the severity of the disease,” Murashko said ( quoted by TASS ).
The minister clarified that there are certain changes in the contagiousness (infectiousness) of the new variants and the speed of spread of the infection, but they are not critical.
On September 20, Rospotrebnadzor warned about the spread of a new covid strain in the world - BA.2.86 “pyrol”, which is more contagious than previous variants.
In addition, with the beginning of autumn, an increase in the incidence of coronavirus began to be recorded in RUSSIA. Thus, in the week from September 4 to 10, the number of patients with COVID increased to 7,688 people, from September 11 to 17 - to almost 11.5 thousand, and in the week from September 18 to 24 - to 14 thousand.
The HEAD of the Ministry of Health himself spoke about the rise in the incidence of coronavirus, but immediately noted that the number of hospitalizations remains small.
