Vaccinations against CORONAVIRUS infection COVID-19 reliably protect against infection, said the head of the Russian Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“We see in practice that the vaccine effectively protects against severe complications of COVID-19. After vaccination, no more than 2.5% of citizens fell ill, most of them during the period of immunity formation, which lasts two to three weeks after the second vaccination, depending on the vaccine," Murashko said.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin estimated the proportion of cases after vaccination against COVID-19 at 10%.
“People are faced with an infection even after vaccinations - about 10% also get sick. But the disease passes easily and without consequences - that's what is important, ”Putin said during a direct line. At the same time, the president noted that among those who fell ill despite the vaccination were his relatives.
“My relatives, some of my people, also got vaccinated, unfortunately, they also got sick quite quickly, and they simply weren’t even treated with any such heavy special preparations. Therefore, vaccination makes sense,” Putin said.
