Moscow artist Yevgeny Gorokhovsky died at the age of 70. RBC was informed about this by the press service of the Moscow pop/off/art gallery.
“The cause of death was complications after he had a coronavirus infection. Yevgeny Eduardovich Gorokhovsky continued to work until the last days of his life,” the press service said.
Evgeny Gorokhovsky was born in Odessa on March 26, 1951. His father was one of the largest domestic artists of the second half of the 20th century, Eduard Gorokhovsky. In 1973, the artist graduated from the production department of the Moscow Art Theater School. After that, he left for Novosibirsk, where he worked in his specialty. Gorokhovsky began to realize himself as an artist in the 1970s, when his circle of friends included Ilya Kabakov, Eric Bulatov and Viktor Pivovarov.
Gorokhovsky's works are created in the style of photorealism. During his life, the artist held twenty solo exhibitions and almost a hundred group exhibitions.
Gorokhovsky's works are included in the largest private and museum collections, in particular in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), Kupferstich-Kabinetta (Dresden, Germany), the Museum of Modern Art (Stuttgart, Germany), and many others.
