Mishustin instructed to prepare new proposals to combat "omicron"

Members of the Coordinating Council to combat the spread of covid-19 were instructed to prepare additional proposals to prevent the spread of the omicron strain in RUSSIA. This is stated in the order of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin published on the government website.

“Members of the council should, as soon as possible, submit to the Government additional proposals on measures aimed at preventing the spread of a new strain of the Omicron CORONAVIRUS in Russia,” the statement said.

Mishustin also instructed the Ministry of HEALTH to assess the readiness of medical organizations to deploy additional beds and create a reserve of beds for patients with COVID-19 by January 14.

In addition, the Russian prime minister recommended that the Russian regions increase the volume of testing of the population in the context of the spread of a new strain. Mishustin stressed that at least 300 tests per 100,000 people should be carried out daily in the regions. “Early diagnosis allows you to start treatment faster and protect against the risk of infecting other people. This year, we must continue to maintain a high coverage of citizens with testing,” he said.
