The Ministry of Health has registered the updated Sputnik V vaccine.

The Russian Ministry of HEALTH has registered the two-component Sputnik V CORONAVIRUS vaccine with an updated formulation, Alexander Ginzburg, DIRECTOR of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, told RIA Novosti.

"The updated Sputnik V has been registered, and the corresponding changes have been made to the instructions," he said.

The scientist noted that the registration of Sputnik V made it possible to move on to testing the updated vaccine in adolescents. Previously, the updated Sputnik Light had not been registered for such testing. According to Gintsburg, Sputnik V trials in adolescents are expected to be completed by the end of March.

The Ministry of Health announced the registration of the single-component Sputnik Light vaccine with an updated antigen composition in December 2023. The vaccine has completed clinical trials, "demonstrating a favorable safety and immunogenicity profile, as well as a low incidence of significant side effects." The new drug has begun shipping to the regions.
