In the Stavropol Territory, there is an increase in the incidence of CORONAVIRUS. For the first time in two years, 621 patients diagnosed with covid-19 were identified per day . The reason for the new wave of the pandemic is the spread of "omicron", which has become the dominant strain in the region. This was announced at a briefing by the Minister of HEALTH of the region Vladimir Kolesnikov.
The study showed that the incidence of "omicron" is almost twice the incidence of "delta". The new type of coronavirus proceeds in a milder form, in almost half of the cases it is asymptomatic, which contributes to its high contagiousness, the information policy department of the regional government noted.
In particular, in 42% of patients the disease proceeds in an asymptomatic form, in 54.5% - in the form of a respiratory viral infection, and in about 4.1% it passes into the stage of pneumonia. The new strain affects children to a greater extent (in this age category, a significant increase in the incidence has been observed in recent days).
In addition, a mobile reserve of bedside oxygen concentrators was organized in the region for the treatment of patients with respiratory failure. 60 of these hubs for 120 patients can be deployed instantly, the department added.
According to information on the Stopcoronavirus.rf website, as of January 19, the daily increase in new cases of coronavirus in the Stavropol Territory amounted to 621 people. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 131,606 people have fallen ill with covid in the region, 113,705 people have recovered, and 6,322 people have died.
