The Ministry of Health instructed the regions to prepare for a mask regime in hospitals

The Ministry of HEALTH instructed the regions to prepare for the return of the mask regime in hospitals and to create the necessary supply of drugs for respiratory diseases. Previously , authorities allowed local restrictions when covid-19 cases increased

The operational headquarters of the Russian Ministry of Health instructed the regions to organize preparations for the seasonal increase in the incidence of respiratory infections, including creating the necessary supply of medicines, organizing the routing of patients, working on strengthening the local and infectious disease services and the possibility of introducing a mask regime for doctors. Assistant Minister of Health Alexey Kuznetsov told RBC about this.

According to him, in RUSSIA there is a certain increase in the incidence of ARVI, associated, among other things, with returning from vacation and the start of classes in schools. At the same time, Kuznetsov emphasized that “in general, the epidemiological situation today is stable.”

“Based on the epidemiological situation in specific regions, in the event of an increase in the incidence rate, introduce a mask regime in medical institutions for medical personnel. This is a common anti-epidemic measure aimed at protecting the health of healthcare workers and patients. Flu vaccination has also begun in the regions ; we strongly recommend that citizens undergo it,” added the assistant minister.

Earlier on September 16, the press service of Rospotrebnadzor told RBC that in some Russian institutions, if necessary, they could temporarily introduce local restrictions against the backdrop of an autumn increase in the incidence of ARVI, influenza and COVID-19. “Restrictive measures, such as, for example, a mask regime, are not planned unless there are serious reasons for this. Local restrictions may be introduced in institutions for a certain period,” the department added.

On the same day, it became known that restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 would begin to apply in the Russian government building on Krasnopresnenskaya embankment in Moscow from September 18. In particular, the use of masks will resume and the number of visitors and employee business trips will be reduced.

The CORONAVIRUS incidence rate began to decline in Russia in October last year and reached its minimum values by July. In May 2023, WHO declared the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, but in August the incidence began to rise again. Thus, if at the beginning of August in Russia about 3 thousand infected people were detected per week, then by September 10 the incidence rate increased to 7688 detected cases (an increase of 49.2% per week). At the end of August, WHO also warned of a sharp increase in the incidence of COVID-19 in the world.
