The Ministry of Labor allowed the removal from work of employees unvaccinated against COVID-19

An employee who has not passed the mandatory vaccination may be suspended from work. This was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of RUSSIA Anton Kotyakov, reports TASS.

“If there is a sanitary doctor’s decision in the region on the mandatory vaccination for certain categories of workers, then an unvaccinated employee can be removed,” he said.

According to him, since the decision on mandatory vaccination is made by the chief sanitary doctors of the subjects, such a decision will be valid at the regional level. He added that the suspension for an unvaccinated worker will be valid for the period for which mandatory vaccination is introduced.

Earlier, Kotyakov reported that the dismissal of an employee for refusing to be vaccinated is not provided for in Russian labor law. He also added that the regions themselves can decide whether to transfer workers to a remote work mode.

Against the backdrop of a surge in the incidence of covid-19 in a number of regions, including Moscow, Tula, Moscow region, Kuzbass, Leningrad, Sakhalin and Tver regions, mandatory vaccination was introduced for certain categories of citizens. So, in the capital, the authorities were obliged to vaccinate with the first dose of the CORONAVIRUS vaccine 60% of employees in the catering, trade, housing and energy sectors, as well as employees of beauty salons, fitness clubs, transport, theaters, museums and multifunctional centers until July 15 this year.

In the Leningrad Region, catering, education, and consumer services enterprises must vaccinate 80% of employees by September 1, otherwise they will be banned from working, Governor Alexander Drozdenko said.
