Ukraine daily delivers food to Romania in exchange for weapons despite the shortage of products for its own population, said Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev, HEAD of the Russian National Defense Control Center.
“According to the available data, the Ukrainian authorities on a daily basis organized a mass EXPORT by road and rail, as well as barges from the port of Izmail along the Danube of grain, corn, oil crops and farm animals to Romania. To date, about 20 million tons have been exported. On the way back, in exchange for the specified agricultural products, foreign weapons and ammunition are brought to Ukraine,” he said.
The general stressed that Kyiv supplies agricultural products to Bucharest, despite the fact that it is not enough for its own population to feed and conduct the spring sowing campaign.

Russia and Ukraine are one of the largest suppliers of wheat in the world, according to the data of the Foreign Agricultural Service of the US Department of Agriculture. In the 2021/22 season, which began in July, Russia accounted for 16% of world wheat exports, Ukraine for 10%. The largest share belongs to the European Union - 18%, another 13% - to Australia, 11% - to the usa, 5% - to India, and the rest - to other countries.
Ukraine is also one of the largest exporters of corn. The country's share in world exports is 14% (Russia has 2%). As for sunflower oil, the share of Russia and Ukraine in the world export of oil and meal in previous years was about 80%.
Against the background of Russia's special military operation, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly called on Western countries to increase the supply of weapons and ammunition for them. To date, the United States, Germany, Great Britain and other Western countries have already announced an increase in arms supplies to Kyiv.

Earlier, world leaders, French and US Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Joe Biden , announced on March 24 that food problems could worsen in the world after the G7 summit. According to Macron, such a development of events will be a direct consequence of the Russian special operation.
Macron warned that the crisis could become unprecedented. With the fighting and the threat of a disruption to the planting campaign, some countries that depend on grain supplies from Russia and Ukraine are already experiencing difficulties, and "the situation will become even more serious in 12-18 months."
Biden also called the likely crisis real and noted that G7 leaders discussed measures that should reduce food shortages.
