The Russian Ministry of Defense announced an airstrike by the Israeli Air Force on targets in Syria

Four F-16 tactical fighter jets of the Israeli Air Force (Air Force) fired five missiles at targets in the Syrian province of Latakia from Lebanese airspace. This was announced by Rear Admiral Oleg Zhuravlev, Deputy HEAD of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria (CPVS), TASS reports.

“On April 9, from 18:45 to 18:52 Moscow time, four Israeli F-16 tactical fighters from the Lebanese airspace launched a strike with five guided missiles at targets in the Syrian province of Latakia,” he said.

Three of the five missiles fired were destroyed with the help of the Russian-made Pantsir-S and S-125 complexes, which are in service with the Syrian troops, Zhuravlev specified.

Civilian infrastructure received minor damage, and there were no casualties among the Russian and Syrian military, he said.

This is not the first time that Israeli aircraft have shelled targets in Syria. In early February, the TsPVS reported two missile attacks on Syrian infrastructure. For the first time, the Israeli Air Force attacked targets in the area of ​​​​the village of Kiswa in the province of Damascus. The operation also involved four F-16 fighters that used guided missiles.

Israeli aircraft delivered a second strike with ten ground-to-ground missiles on the positions of units of the Syrian air defense forces. As a result, one person died, five Syrian soldiers were injured. Syrian military and civilian infrastructure facilities were also damaged, the CPVS noted.
