The mayor of Yekaterinburg estimated the timeframe for making a decision on mandatory vaccination

The authorities of the Sverdlovsk region will soon decide on the introduction of mandatory vaccination of education and HEALTH workers in Yekaterinburg, Yekaterinburg Mayor Alexei Orlov said at a meeting of the City Duma, TASS reports.

“It is possible that a decision on mandatory vaccination will be made today. These decisions are made by Rospotrebnadzor. We discussed these issues at our city headquarters yesterday. For certain categories of the population - doctors, teachers on the eve of the new academic year - vaccination will be considered mandatory, ”said Orlov.

He also added that with a "high degree of probability" they will impose a restriction on attending mass events, allowing entry to them only for those who have been vaccinated against covid-19 , or those who have contraindications to the vaccine and a document confirming this. According to Orlov, the HEAD of the region, Yevgeny Kuyvashev, together with the operational headquarters, can make the appropriate decision.

According to the mayor of Yekaterinburg, a little over 205,000 residents of the city have already received the first component of the vaccine, and 175,000 people have completed the vaccination cycle.

On June 21, due to the worsening epidemiological situation in the region, the governor of the Sverdlovsk region, Evgeny Kuyvashev, announced the cancellation of the Ural Music Night festival and school graduations, as well as the closure of the Euro 2020 fan zone at the Yekaterinburg Arena.

Over the past day, 175 new cases of COVID-19 and 17 deaths among the sick have been registered in the region. In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, 912,108 cases of CORONAVIRUS infection have been detected in the region, 3,692 people have died.

In early June, the daily increase in new cases of COVID-19 in RUSSIA was 8-9 thousand people, for the last four days the number of new cases of the disease has exceeded 17 thousand people per day.

In some Russian regions, the authorities have introduced mandatory vaccination for certain categories of citizens against the backdrop of an increase in the incidence of COVID-19. As a rule, vaccination is mandatory for at least 60% of workers in the service sector, transport, catering, civil servants and some other categories. The requirement is valid in Moscow and the Moscow region, in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, in the Tver, Sakhalin, Nizhny Novgorod regions and some other regions.
