Doctors of the Republic of Tatarstan: the consequences of COVID-19 in children last up to six

monthschildren may experience different effects. Both adults and children suffer from heart disease

“A consultation of very difficult patients after covid passes through my hands. Unfortunately, there are more and more of them. If earlier it was believed that mostly adults get sick, and there are not so many children, now we can no longer say so. We are now conducting a study among children after suffering covid. We see that these consequences last for another six months,” said Dinara Sadykova, HEAD of the department of hospital pediatrics at Kazan Medical University, in the program “Interview without a tie”.

Yesterday, Dmitry Lopushov, chief freelance epidemiologist of the Ministry of HEALTH of the Republic of Tatarstan, said that CORONAVIRUS was detected in 5,170 children in the republic. Of these, 4847 are treated on an outpatient basis. 385 children's beds are deployed, 380 are occupied.

Sadykova noted that coronavirus is not an exclusively infectious disease; within six months, heart disease, neurological complications, and others are possible in patients of all age groups. In general, according to Sadykova, over the past 20 years, the number of cases of cardiovascular diseases among minors in the Republic of Tatarstan has increased by 32%. This is partly due to the development of diagnostics. But there are other reasons as well.

“There are results of a serious study on the physical activity of our teenagers from 11 to 18 years old. In 70-80% of boys and girls, an absolute lack of physical activity was revealed. All doctors are sounding the alarm that something needs to be done about it. Research on the dangers of gadgets began relatively recently, but there are already first results. They say that if a child, for example, from 2 to 5 years old, spends more than two hours at the screen of a gadget, then he develops problems with long-term memory, such children are more passive, experience problems in communicating with the outside world.

It is also a huge load on the organs of vision, the musculoskeletal system. In the last 20 years there has been a huge increase in these diseases. It also affects the heart, but indirectly through obesity. We are seeing an increase in arterial hypertension, which is already the 4th most common,” Sadykova said.
