Lavrov announced the possibility of humanitarian deliveries of Sputnik V to Laos

RUSSIA can send part of the supplies of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine to Laos as humanitarian aid, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference following a bilateral meeting with his Lao counterpart Salemsay Kommasit. The broadcast was conducted by TASS.

“We are considering the request of the Lao leadership that, along with commercial supplies, part of the vaccines be sent here as humanitarian assistance,” Lavrov said.

According to him, now the Russian Direct Investment Fund is conducting the final stage of negotiations on the supply of Sputnik V to Laos.

From July 5 to 8, Lavrov conducts working trips to the countries of Southeast Asia. On July 6, the minister visited Indonesia. The HEAD of the Russian Foreign Ministry plans to hold a joint meeting with colleagues from the ASEAN countries (which unites ten countries of Southeast Asia) on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of establishing relations with this organization. The parties plan to discuss issues of strategic partnership and security.

The Ministry of HEALTH of Laos registered the Russian drug in early March. In addition to the Russian vaccine, the British drug ASTRAZENECA, the Chinese Sinopharm and the American Pfizer have also been approved in the country.
