Lavrov accused Kyiv of trying to hide mercenaries during the evacuation from Mariupol

The Ukrainian authorities are seeking the evacuation of all those at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol to the territory controlled by Kyiv in order to hide the presence of mercenaries among the country's military. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with the Italian edition of MediaSet, the text was published by the Foreign Ministry.

The minister said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, his team and "Western patrons" are showing a "stubborn, even hysterical" commitment to the issue. In his opinion, this is due to the fact that among those at the plant there are a large number of "characters who will confirm the presence of mercenaries, and maybe active officers of the Western armies on the side of Ukrainian radicals."

“A huge number of mercenaries from Western countries. I think that the talk about the presence of Wagner in Ukraine is due precisely to the desire to divert attention from what our Western colleagues are doing, ”Lavrov said.

“You asked the question: does the elimination of the influence of a few dozen (even thousands) of Nazis deserve to put a country of forty million at risk? This is not a completely correct question. This is an issue that concerns the fundamental security interests of the Russian Federation,” Lavrov continued.

The minister said that Moscow had been raising this topic "for decades," since about twenty years ago, Western countries began to tell Kyiv on the eve of each election that they should decide "with whom they are: with Europe or RUSSIA." Lavrov also expressed confidence that the Ukrainian authorities were making efforts to make Ukraine look less like Russia, which evoked approval from Western countries.

In particular, the HEAD of the Foreign Ministry claims, the Russian Orthodox Church, the Russian language and the Russian media were persecuted, sales of all printed materials in Russian were stopped, laws were adopted to "promote Nazi theory and practice."
