HEAD of the Russian Ministry of Foreign AffairsSergey Lavrov said that ferry service between the two countries was discussed during talks with his North Korean counterpart, Choi Son-hui, in Wonson. He made this announcement at a briefing following the meeting, according to an RBC correspondent.

Lavrov recalled that air travel between the countries has already been restored after the hiatus due to the CORONAVIRUS pandemic . "There are plans to also resume maritime travel and develop contacts between people," the Russian Foreign Minister said.

He noted that this route is in demand among Russian regions bordering North Korea, particularly in the Far East, as "they know North Korea well." Furthermore, the Russian Foreign Minister noted that North Korea is interested in Russians visiting its resorts, such as Wonsan. Moreover, ferry service to this city is "quite feasible," Lavrov emphasized, although the most pressing issue currently is air service from Wonsan to Vladivostok and Khabarovsk.

Direct air travel between RUSSIA and North Korea resumed in August 2023, after being interrupted due to the pandemic.covid-19 . Tickets to Pyongyang can only be purchased as part of a guided tour.
