The governor of the Kursk region, Roman Starovoit, decided not to maintain an Instagram profile due to the fact that Meta Platforms, which owns this social network and FACEBOOK, allowed users in some countries to publish calls for violence against the Russian military who are participating in the operation in Ukraine, and to the leaders of RUSSIA and Belarus.

“Unfortunately, I have to close private messages and comments on my Instagram page and not post my posts here yet. <...> I am sure that if the situation changes, we will return to this site. In the meantime, I work on VKontakte and TELEGRAM, ”Starovoit wrote in his last post on Instagram.

Commenting on the Meta initiative, the HEAD of the region refused to "give a moral assessment of this."

REUTERS reported on the temporary permission for incitement to violence in social networks. it published an internal company mailing list suggesting that Meta has "temporarily allowed forms of political expression" that would "normally" violate the company's policy on incitement to violence. The permission applies to users from Russia and Ukraine, as well as from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
