Kyiv has no preconditions for resuming diplomatic talks with Moscow, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said during the World Economic Forum in Davos.

According to him, it is “emotionally painful” for the Ukrainian side to negotiate with Russia, but Kyiv is ready to “control emotions” if this leads to peace and helps restore the territorial integrity of the state. “We don’t have any preconditions,” Kuleba said.

At the same time, the head of the Foreign Ministry noted, Ukraine does not see Russia's desire to negotiate "in good faith", and he called the presentation of ultimatums unacceptable.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the return of territories a condition for negotiations with Russia. “To begin with, we plan to return [the territories] to the state before February 24th. And then we will sit down at the negotiating table,” he said. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko responded by saying that Kyiv's demands to unblock the negotiation process make "doubt the sincerity of their desire to find a peaceful solution."

Moscow and Kyiv suspended negotiations in mid-May. The Russian side blamed Ukraine for this. According to the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, freezing the process is "Ukraine's initiative." Moscow handed over to Kyiv a draft treaty, “in which a number of principled positions had already been agreed upon,” now “the ball is completely in their favor.” Russia , for its part, does not refuse the conversation, Medinsky assured.
