RDIF Demands Reuters Investigation After Sputnik V Article

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) described a Reuters article about problems with the registration of the Sputnik V vaccine in Europe as based on "false comments" and "an example of fake news." “The Reuters material contains gross errors and misleads readers regarding the Sputnik V vaccine, its characteristics, as well as the interaction of the drug developers with EMA specialists, about which the RDIF warned the Reuters editors even before publication,” the foundation said in a statement.

The agency’s material, which provoked a reaction from the RDIF, said that the developers of Sputnik V did not provide European regulators with data that they consider standard for approving the drug on the EU market. In particular, the article argued that the French scientists who test the vaccine before the EMA study were unable to document the compliance of the Master Cell Bank with one of the EU regulations.
