
CORONAVIRUS is not the only infection that spread in the Perm region in 2021. Entire farms in the region have been quarantined due to outbreaks of African swine fever and brucellosis. RBC Perm has compiled a complete chronology of the spread of animal infections in the Kama region.
African swine fever
On September 28, 2021, in a private courtyard of the village of Karabai, Krasnokamsk district, the fact of infection of farm animals with African swine fever among animals was revealed. The village and surrounding areas have been quarantined. This was reported by the press service of the government of the Perm Territory.
For the quarantine period, entry and exit of unauthorized persons, with the exception of a specialist from relevant departments, will be prohibited for the period of quarantine on the infected territory, 350 m from the borders of the settlement of the village of Karabai, along the Karabai-Volegi highway, within a radius of 50 m from the point with coordinates 58.092188 55.605799 , slaughtering pigs, stocking up feed and other restrictions to stop the spread of the disease.
On September 30 of the same year, Governor Dmitry Makhonin held a meeting with the heads of the municipalities of the Kama region. During the meeting, he noted that African swine fever was detected in the Kama region for the first time. Despite this, the virus has long been known to specialists and effective methods of dealing with it have been developed.
“Employees of the relevant departments have already begun to implement all the necessary measures to localize the disease. In turn, I ask the residents of the region and the owners of agricultural enterprises to be careful in the current situation and follow all the recommendations,” he stressed.
Also, 8 settlements of the Krasnokamsky district are defined as a threatened zone of the spread of the disease. Restrictions have been introduced within the village of Ust-Syny, the village of Kuznetsy, the village of Konets-Bor, the village of Karabai, the village of Maloye Shilovo, the village of Bolshoye Shilovo, the village of Nizhnie Simonyata, and the village of Gurino.
