The Russian government "brilliantly" got out of the crises that have arisen in the country over the past three years, recalled Dmitry Peskov. According to him,

Russia brilliantly emerged from the recent crises, said the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, RBC correspondent reports.

The Kremlin has positively assessed the work of Mikhail Mishustin's government for three years since his appointment as prime minister, Peskov recalled.

“Indeed, for three years the Prime Minister has been working in extremely difficult conditions. First, the unprecedented challenge of the global COVID pandemic. <...> This was replaced by a proxy war on the part of the countries of the collective West,” he listed. But even despite this, Russia has retained "the trajectory of potential growth," Peskov stressed.

“Yes, they fell a little, but much less than there was a chance even in our forecasts. And the potential is very good, the prospects are absolutely positive,” said the representative of the head of state, adding that Putin’s assessment of the work of the Cabinet of Ministers “has always been positive.”

Mikhail Mishustin became prime minister on January 16, 2020, succeeding Dmitry Medvedev, who is now deputy chairman of the Security Council.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mishustin chaired the coordinating council to combat the virus. In December 2020, Putin said that he assessed the work of the Cabinet of Ministers as “worthy”. “Even in the most difficult moments there was no confusion, no one gave up, this is quite obvious,” he said then. Nine months later, in September 2021, assessing the work of the government, Putin said that “in general, the government performed very well in the acute phase of the pandemic,” acting “energetically, quickly and carefully, which is very important.” At the same time, the president acknowledged that "some things could certainly be done better."

In April 2022, after Mishustin's report to the State Duma, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov also said that the Kremlin highly appreciates the performance of the government under Mishustin's leadership. “The President has repeatedly given a very positive assessment in such difficult conditions in which our current ministers have to work,” the presidential spokesman said.

In October of the same year, Mishustin headed the Coordinating Council under the government, which should resolve issues of ensuring the tasks of the military operation. Its tasks include resolving issues with the supply of equipment and providing transport.

In January 2023, speaking about Russia's handling of the impact of sanctions on the economy, Putin said that the country had "fairly successfully" overcome the risks it faced, including financial and logistical ones, even though the year had been "very difficult." He also noted that the dynamics of the Russian economy in 2022 turned out to be "better than many expert forecasts." According to him, Russia's GDP in January-November 2022 decreased by 2.1%, while experts in the country and abroad predicted 15-20%.
