Collective immunity to COVID in Russia fell to 10.7%

The level of herd immunity to CORONAVIRUS in RUSSIA decreased by more than 1.5 p.p. per week and amounted to 10.7%, follows from the data of the operational headquarters. A week earlier, this figure was 12.3%.

At the same time, the incidence of covid-19 is growing in the country: for the second day in a row, more than 11 thousand new cases of infection per day are detected, which has not been recorded since mid-April.

According to the operational headquarters, more than 93.8 million people were vaccinated with the first component, and 89.1 million people were fully vaccinated.

The target for herd immunity in Russia was 80%. At the same time, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova pointed out that it is desirable to bring it to the level of 90-95%. However, in early February, the level of herd immunity in Russia, having exceeded the mark of 64%, began to decline.

In Rospotrebnadzor, the increase in the incidence was explained by the spread of new, more contagious subspecies of the omicron strain of coronavirus. While anti-covid restrictions were not reintroduced, nevertheless, Rospotrebnadzor recommended that they be observed by the elderly and people with chronic diseases.
