The draft law on restricting the electoral right of persons involved in the activities of extremist and terrorist organizations has already passed the first reading. However, it was proposed to amend it for the second reading in order to extend this ban not only to participation in elections to the State Duma, but also to elections at all levels.

A citizen can lose the right to be elected even for endorsing an extremist organization, including on the Internet. Involvement in an activity will be considered statements in support of it or support for its individual event, transfer of money, organizational, advisory or other assistance.
