Karelia was among the regions with a low share of influenza vaccination coverage. The corresponding rating of subjects began to publish Rospotrebnadzor of Russia. As of November 18, the top five included KhMAO (53.7%), Tyumen region (53.5%), YNAO (52.9%), Republic of Mordovia (51.7%), Astrakhan region (49.7% ).

Among the outsider regions in terms of vaccination coverage, in addition to Karelia (29.9%), are the Smolensk region (31.7%), the Komi Republic (28.9%), the Pskov region (27.4%), the Murmansk region (23. 7%). Influenza vaccination coverage for the Russian Federation as a whole is about 41% (40.9%).

Earlier, the republican department of Rospotrebnadzor reported that in the 46th week, 5,414 cases of acute respiratory viral infections were registered in the region, the incidence rate was 88.9 per 10,000 people. The incidence rate of acute respiratory viral infections among the total population is higher than the epidemic threshold by 20.8%, mainly due to the age group of 15 years and older. In addition, 285 cases of Covid-19 were registered in the republic over the past week.

In October, the Ministry of Health of Karelia spoke about the need for vaccination due to the rise in the incidence of coronavirus infection and SARS. The department, in particular, called for more active vaccination and revaccination against influenza and covid of the elderly and citizens with chronic diseases.
