In Chechnya, the number of people wishing to be vaccinated has sharply increased. According to official information, the republic has moved from outsiders to the leaders in terms of the pace of the vaccination campaign.

The HEAD of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, during a video call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, complained about the lack of a CORONAVIRUS vaccine that the region has been experiencing for the past week.

“There are queues at some vaccination points, we have been experiencing a shortage of vaccine for the last week and would like you to pay attention to this,” Kadyrov said (quoted by TASS).

On June 9, the Chechnya Today publication reported that about 21% of the population (that is, just over 110,000 people) had been vaccinated against covid-19 in the republic. According to TASS, to date, 175,671 people (31.5%) have been vaccinated with the first component of the vaccine.

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said at a meeting with Putin on Wednesday that Chechnya is now one of the leaders in terms of vaccination rates in RUSSIA.

At the same time, in mid-May, the level of vaccination in the republics of the North Caucasus (including Chechnya) did not exceed 5%, followed from a study conducted by RBC. The situation was worse only in Dagestan.

On June 23, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov acknowledged the shortage of COVID-19 vaccines, explaining this as "temporary logistical difficulties." “I think that in the coming days this will all be compensated and in the required quantity, as it was all previous months, the vaccine will be in civilian circulation,” he said.
