The epidemiologist announced the seasonality of vaccination against COVID-19

Vaccines against coronavirus infection will have to be periodically updated and vaccinated with them annually. This was stated by Kamil Khafizov, head of the scientific group for the development of new methods for diagnosing human diseases, at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, RIA Novosti reports.

“It is quite likely that vaccines against the new coronavirus will have to be periodically updated and immunized annually, as is now happening with the same influenza virus,” the epidemiologist said.

According to Khafizov, by the fall it will be possible to collect a sufficient amount of information about the effectiveness of existing vaccines against new strains.

He also noted that now there are no reasons to avoid vaccination, with the exception of direct health contraindications.
