Experts have revealed a new fraud scheme with fake vaccination certificates

A new fraud scheme has emerged in Russia: attackers are blackmailing those who bought a fake coronavirus vaccination certificate, Kommersant reported citing experts.

Those who have purchased a fake certificate of vaccination with Sputnik V are told that the doctor who issued the certificate was arrested and offered to transfer 50,000 rubles. for deleting correspondence with the victim's personal data from the doctor's mail, the Angara group of companies reported. The databases of buyers of certificates are transferred to scammers by sellers of certificates, writes the Banksta Telegram channel, which published an example of such an SMS message.

The fact that there is now a surge in such cases of fraud was confirmed by Infosecurity a Softline Company. According to Alexei Drozd, head of the SearchInform information security department, the victims are intimidated with criminal prosecution, alluding to complicity in the forgery of documents.

According to Art. 327 of the Criminal Code (forgery of official documents), not only the one who forged the vaccination certificate, but also the customer can bear responsibility: buying and storing a document threatens up to one year in prison, said Ruslan Kosarim, deputy technical director for business development of the Angara group of companies.
