The possibility of another surge in the incidence in September-October was predicted in a commentary by RIA Novosti by infectious disease specialist Yevgeny Timakov. He called the new strain "delta plus" the reason.

The expert notes that if the vaccine preparations were "done correctly", then they should be effective against the "delta plus" strain as well. He claims that so far no mutations have occurred that would change the structure of the virus so much that immunity to it will not remain.
