The need to extend non-working days in Novosibirsk after November 7 is obvious, a researcher, candidate of biological sciences Sergey Sedykh told RBC Novosibirsk. At the same time, he noted that the duration of this period should be at least a month.

“The morbidity and mortality over the weekend in early November will not decrease, but something needs to be done about it. But if kindergartens operate during the lockdown, and the metro operates on a holiday, as on November 1-3, the effect will be minimal,” Sedykh said.

Earlier, the HEAD of the information policy department of the administration of the Governor of the Novosibirsk Region, Sergei Neshumov, told NDN.Info that the decision to extend non-working days in the region could be made on the basis of the epidemic situation after November 7.

On October 20 this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the introduction of non-working days from October 30 to November 7. At the same time, the Novosibirsk Region extended the high alert regime until the end of 2021, ordered trade, service and transport workers to be vaccinated against CORONAVIRUS, introduced the use of QR codes to attend events with more than 100 participants, and also limited the work of public catering from 23 to 6 o'clock.

The head of the Rospotrebnadzor department for the Novosibirsk region, Alexander Shcherbatov, said on November 1 that an increase in the incidence of covid-19 has been recorded in the region for six weeks .
