Ishchenko is the founder of the Avrora-Stroy construction company, which was engaged in the construction of an apartment building on Safonova Street in Vladivostok from 2016 to 2021. The Investigative Committee believes that Ishchenko fraudulently stole money from 187 equity holders in the amount of more than 105 million rubles.
At the end of October last year, searches were carried out at Ishchenko's place due to long-term construction. According to PrimaMedia, the house was supposed to be handed over in 2018, but construction was slowed down due to financial difficulties. Ishchenko claimed that he started having problems with money after the gubernatorial elections and promised to put the facility into operation in the spring of 2022, but the keys were never handed over to the equity holders.
In 2018, Ishchenko ran for governor of Primorye from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and entered the second round along with United Russia candidate Andrei Tarasenko. They accused each other of violating the law, as a result, the Primorsky Electoral Commission declared the election results invalid. Oleg Kozhemyako, the acting HEAD of the region, won the second vote in December. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation in November 2019 expelled Ishchenko from its membership due to defamatory statements.
