Golikova reported no sharp increase in hospitalizations with COVID-19

Despite the increase in the incidence of CORONAVIRUS, RUSSIA has not recorded a sharp increase in hospitalizations, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said during a meeting of the operational headquarters. She stressed that the main task of the operational headquarters at the moment is to prevent a further increase in the incidence.

“All healthcare systems should be as prepared as possible to help patients with coronavirus infection. The regions have all the necessary recommendations,” Golikova said.

The incidence of coronavirus in Russia has been declining since February, and by June, the daily number of infections reached its lowest level since the spring of 2020. Since July 1, all coronavirus restrictions have been lifted in Russia.

However, a few days later, the incidence of COVID-19 increased again. On July 28, for the first time since mid-April, more than 11.5 thousand new cases of coronavirus infection per day were registered in the country. The next day, this number dropped to 11.4 thousand.

In Rospotrebnadzor, the increase in the incidence was explained by the spread of new, more contagious subspecies of the omicron strain of coronavirus. The department also recommended that the elderly and people with chronic diseases continue to comply with anti-COVID measures. Rospotrebnadzor urged all Russians to be revaccinated.
