Golikova allowed an increase in the incidence of COVID after the New Year holidays

After the New Year holidays in RUSSIA, the incidence of CORONAVIRUS infection may increase, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova warned, TASS reports. People want to relax, congratulate each other, and all restrictive measures for them at this time fade into the background, she explained.

“I do not rule out that after the holidays we can get an increase in the incidence, but how it will be expressed: whether it will be an asymptomatic course, a mild course or severe forms of the disease, it’s hard to say now <...>,” Golikova said in the State Duma on the discussion of bills on QR codes.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the regions have already been instructed not to relax during the holidays and to comply with the prescribed quarantine measures. Especially “on the eve of the holidays, when everyone wants to relax and congratulate a friend of a friend, and restrictive measures go by the wayside,” she said.

Golikova also explained that the authorities will not be able to close the borders "due to large cross-border flows and trips of Russians abroad on New Year's holidays."
