The chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health called similar numbers of deaths from COVID and cancer

Every day, 27 thousand people die from cancer in the world every day, Andrei Kaprin, chief oncologist of the Ministry of HEALTH, cited WHO data. According to him, the death rate from cancer is comparable to the death rate from covid-19.

The figures for cancer deaths are similar to those for CORONAVIRUS deaths, Andrey Kaprin, chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health, DIRECTOR of the National Medical Research Center for Radiology, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said on Radio RUSSIA.

“And the pandemic is not easy. And cancer, unfortunately, continues to mow down in general, and there is a colossal mortality rate all over the world. These numbers are not easy: 27,000 people die [from cancer] a day, according to the World Health Organization,” he said.

The presenter added that in Russia about 800 people die of cancer per day. Kaprin agreed that the death rate is comparable to the statistics on COVID-19.
