
President of the Russian Academy of Education (RAO), former Minister of Education and Science Olga Vasilyeva went on sick leave due to coronavirus infection, a source close to her told RBC.
“She has confirmed COVID-19 , she is really on sick leave, under the supervision of doctors. However, the risks and threats, as well as the severe form of the disease, are currently out of the question,” the source said.
The fact that Vasilyeva is on sick leave, ”TASS was confirmed in the press service of the Russian Academy of Education. However, they did not specify what the ex-minister is sick with.

Earlier on August 3, the Mash Telegram channel reported that Vasilyeva was urgently hospitalized in Moscow with COVID-19 in a moderate condition. According to the channel, the head of the RAO "has been ill for five days."
Since the second half of July, the number of cases of COVID-19 has been growing in Russia. Over the past day, 5,720 new cases of infection have been detected in Moscow, twice as many as the day before (2,765). In total, 14,638 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Russia per day.
